Deleting Spaces

In TREAT you can model surfaces between conditioned and unconditioned spaces. You cannot model surfaces between conditioned spaces.
When modeling a surface between conditioned and unconditioned, such as between a penthouse apartment and an elevator or mechanical room, the surface “belongs to” or is modeled in the conditioned space. In other words I can model an apartment ceiling adjacent to the attic, but I cannot model an attic floor adjacent to the apartment.

In order to delete a space you may need to delete:

  • any surface attached to it
  • any HVAC or other systems affiliated with it
  • any improvements or packages that relate to any of the above items

One of the things we discuss in TREAT training is the importance of having a strategy before you start modeling.
